October 26, 2010-High Tech First for New Jersey

In September, the Center for Microplasma Science & Technology at St. Peter’s College officially opened its doors. The microplasma center, the first of its kind in the nation, focuses on research involving microplasma, tiny discharges of ionized gas that can clean contaminated air and water, sterilize medical equipment and promote energy efficiency. The center was funded by a $2 million federal grant. North Jersey high school students have the opportunity to participate in summer internships at the center.
